Catherine Hardy, known to all
her family and friends as Kay Hardy, was born in a Finnish
village in northern Minnesota. She was a wife, a mother, sister,
and friend to many but most of she was an artist.

Dr. Edgar Hardy has been
involved extensively in research and development in the chemical
industry. After retirement he has served at several universities
as a professor of chemistry and is presently an adjunct member of
the San Diego State faculty.
|
|
Travels, cruises, and tent
camping, augment her many impressions and experiences abroad and
in North America. Noteworthy are her painting trips to the "High
Desert," Italy, Scandinavia, and other parts of Europe.

|
Creativity, or the ability to
create in original form, has been exhibited by the author in his
many scientific publications, his patents, his colorful watercolors, and his personality. He is truly a creative person and
takes pride in his individuality - and does so in a manner which
encourages those around him to exhibit their own
creativity.

Her teachers include: Art Hart,
a student of Hans Hoffman and professor at Baypath College in
Springfield, Massachusetts: Loyd Ostendorf, illustrator and
well-known Lincoln scholar in Dayton, Ohio: and Floyd Chandler in San Diego. She has attended workshops by Lester Stevens and James
Boren.

Motivated by one of her sons,
an astrophysicist, she has been most enthusiastic about a special
subject: "The Northern Lights, The Aurora!" Two journeys to
Fairbanks, Alaska and the "Poker Flats" rocket range led to an
extensive treasure of experiences giving rise to many beautiful and unusual paintings.
