Catherine Hardy (Author/Illustrator)

Dr. Edgar Hardy (Author)

Catherine Hardy, known to all her family and friends as Kay Hardy, was
born in a Finnish village in northern Minnesota. She was a wife, a mother,
sister, and friend to many but most of she was an artist.

Dr. Edgar Hardy has been involved extensively in research and development
in the chemical industry. After retirement he has served at several
universities as a professor of chemistry and is presently an adjunct member
of the San Diego State faculty.

Travels, cruises, and tent camping, augment her many impressions and
experiences abroad and in North America. Noteworthy are her painting trips
to the "High Desert," Italy, Scandinavia, and other parts of Europe.

Creativity, or the ability to create in original form, has been exhibited by the
author in his many scientific publications, his patents, his colorful
watercolors, and his personality. He is truly a creative person and takes
pride in his individuality - and does so in a manner which encourages those
around him to exhibit their own creativity.

Her teachers include: Art Hart, a student of Hans Hoffman and professor at
Baypath College in Springfield, Massachusetts: Loyd Ostendorf, illustrator
and well-known Lincoln scholar in Dayton, Ohio: and Floyd Chandler in
San Diego. She has attended workshops by Lester Stevens and James Boren.

Motivated by one of her sons, an astrophysicist, she has been most
enthusiastic about a special subject: "The Northern Lights, The Aurora!"
Two journeys to Fairbanks, Alaska and the "Poker Flats" rocket range led
to an extensive treasure of experiences giving rise to many beautiful and
unusual paintings.
